About the Directors

Mr. Drew Paulsen

I grew up in Carroll, IA and attended college at Morningside University (then known as Morningside College) in Sioux City. After graduating with my B.A. in Music Education, I became the 5-12 Band Director at West Sioux in Hawarden, IA. I then moved to Sioux City East where I became the Associate Director and taught 6-12 band. I recently finished my Master's Degree in Music Education from Morningside University. I am excited to be a part of the Rock Valley music department! In my free time I enjoy spending time outdoors, traveling, and playing in various local musical groups.

Mr. Tyson Lund

Hello! I was raised on a farm outside of Montevideo, MN. I attended Luther College in Decorah, IA and received a B.A. in Music Education with an Instrumental and Vocal emphasis. After getting married in 2016, my wife and I spent three years teaching music abroad in Abu Dhabi. Following that, I tought Band and Choir at the HLV Community School District in eastern Iowa. This is my first year at the Rock Valley School District and seventh year teaching.

Outside of school I enjoy running, hiking, camping, cooking and reading. We are very excited to join the Rock Valley CSD!
